last night on halloween
we watched a movie i'd never seen
starring sam neil
from jurassic park
i didn't know
he was an englishman
doing an american accent
in jurassic park
he was playing a man
slowly realizing that he's a character
in a best-selling horror novel
whose readers keep turning into worms
it ends with him alone in a theater
watching the film adaptation
of the novel that he's finally accepted
that he's the protagonist of
and it just so happens to be
the very same movie
that we the audience
have been watching all along
seeing himself on the screen
with everyone else in the world
presumably turned into worms
sam neil starts to laugh
harder and harder
'til he begins to cry
and then the credits roll
i just think you would've liked it
it reminded me of you
it was suspenseful and exciting
with a sense of humor too
well, i know you must be god now
with a million things to do
